Sharing care with Smithy Bridge Court
What is respite care?
We understand the sense of duty when taking care of a loved one but know that it can be physically and mentally draining. For this reason, it is important to take a break when needed, to rest, re-energise and look after your wellbeing too.
At Smithy Bridge Court we offer short-term and respite care for older and working-aged adults living with complex care needs including mental health illness, dementia and complex behaviours.
Whether you require support for a loved one as they recover from an illness or operation, an emergency arises that needs your attention or you require a well-deserved break, our inviting home and experienced care team are here to help. We can provide respite care when you need it for as short a time as one week or for longer periods spanning several months.
The benefits of respite care
Knowing that your loved one is in a safe pair of hands with our skilled care team, you can take some time to fully relax and reset or simply have some space to take care of tasks you need to action. You can visit or call whenever you would like and can check in with your loved one to ensure they are happy and being cared for as you wish.
Respite care can also be positive for your loved one, providing an opportunity for a change of scenery and a chance to get involved with interesting activities and meet new people. Time spent with us at our home can also provide a taste of long-term care should it ever be required.
Equal care
Whether you are part of our Smithy Bridge Court community for the long-term or a short time only, we deliver equal person-centred care for all our individuals.
All our ladies and gentlemen have their own furnished room, which can be decorated with personal items to create a familiar environment that is comfortable and safe. We also encourage everyone to take part in events and activities we organise.
